![]() ![]() They might've been job applications, I never bothered to look. He'd sit, look through some papers he brought in. So, he came in and went through his ritual. He had found a phone somewhere, on the street, in the trash, somewhere, and wanted to sell it. He'd come into the store every now and then, refill his prepaid account, and sit for a while and drink a coffee he had picked up at the restaurant across the street. He was a little off his rocker, but he didn't really bother anyone. We had this homeless man who'd come into the store regularly. Now, keep in mind, we do a bit more than repairs, such as buying used phones, refilling prepaid accounts, etc. Okay, for some reason this reminded me of a story. If your phone hasn't been repaired and it's overheating, I'd try to send it back to the manufacturer if it's still in warranty. Improper grounding usually only happens after a phone has been repaired, and one of the screws was misplaced or not put back in the right hole. Only things that can cause them to overheat is improper grounding, laying in direct sunlight for too long, or the battery is going out. Rooting is something that can be done to Android and Windows phones, but like I said, most of the hacks aren't beneficial to regular users, only power users. There aren't really many hacks you can do to your phone as a casual user, as most hacks take time, knowledge, and are super specific. You don't have to deal with any messy adhesive, and usually only have to transfer the main board, back housing, and the battery door. The easiest way to replace most of them, and this is what I do, is to get the entire front assembly, basically the glass, LCD, and the frame that holds them all. It's pretty easy, if you know what you're doing. Sometimes sellers on eBay will have a website, I would suggest ordering the parts from their websites if you can find them, they are typically less expensive. There are loads of guides on how to disassemble your phone if you just Google the model. I would not suggest repairing a newer (2016+) premium or semi-premium phone yourself unless you have another broken phone of the same model to practice on. Phone manufacturers will change how their phones are assembled every year, and new features, especially waterproofing, will make newer phones harder and harder to repair. Everything you could ever want to know about repairing phones is in this AMA, just read my comments. I have not touched the inside of a phone in 3+ years. Everything I've learned has been either taught to me by a professional or self-taught. I have been repairing phones for about six years now.
